Access Keys

This site utilises accesskeys for those who wish/need to navigate the site without the aid of a mouse.
Menu links are grouped and an option to bypass navigation is provided. Link to skip navigation has no visible anchor text, and is provided specifically for people using a screen reader. Access Keys are selected in different ways in different browsers. In internet explorer or mozillia based browsers on windows, you can press ALT + an access key, on a Macintosh you can press Control + an access key. Then press Enter to activate the link.

The following access keys are available throughout this site:

  • S - Skip navigation
  • 1 - Home page
  • 3 - Site map
  • 5 - About
  • 8 - Terms & Conditions
  • 9 - Contacts
  • 0 - Accessibility statement

These access keys have been chosen to follow the UK government website guidelines andvthey do not conflict with commonly-used screen reader and browser keyboard shortcuts where possible.

Structured, Semantic Markup

HTML heading tags are used to convey document structure. H2 tags are used for main titles, H3 and H4 tags for subtitles etc.

Navigation menus are marked up as HTML lists ensuring that the number of links in the list is read out at the start and it can be skipped easily

Image

All content images used in the home page and all archives include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null alt attributes.

Flash

Where flash is used n the website, we try and provide alternative content, but this is not always possible. We recommend upgrading or installing the flash player where possible.

Compatability

Where at all possible we have strived to make the Strada website degrade gracefully for users with older browsers such as Internet Explorer 6 or with features such as javascipt or flash disabled.
